PROFESSIONAL MEMBERSHIP CLASSIFICATIONS

The classifications for Associate Members are not included in this list. The following list is for professional members only:

CLASS 1

If you include any combination of only acupressure, alternative therapies, aromatherapy, reflexology, shiatsu or spiritual healer services in your professional health care business, you may become a Class 1 Professional Member of TNTANA:

Acupressure is defined as any technique of applying pressure to specific points on the body that is not otherwise defined as massage therapy. Certification in acupressure or massage by an accredited certification board is required to obtain full insurance benefits for acupressure services.

Alternative Therapies are defined to include, but are not limited to, applied kinesiology, cold laser therapy, color therapy, cranial sacral therapy, crystal therapy, dousing, ear coning, kinesthetic therapy, light therapy, oil drop technique, pain management, passive sound therapy, spiritual healing and stress management. Kinesthetic therapy refers to touch therapy using a passive or active device. Passive sound therapy refers to tuning fork, Tibetan bowl and similar therapies not related to the Tomatis Method. Certification in Alternative Therapies, Pain Management, Stress Management or any one of the other modalities by an accredited certification board is required to obtain full insurance benefits for any and all of these alternative therapies.

Aromatherapy is defined as using essential plant oils. Certification in aromatherapy or the use of essential oils by an accredited certification board is required to obtain full insurance benefits for aromatherapy services.

Reflexology is any form of foot therapy not legally defined as massage, podiatry, chiropractic or medical therapy. Certification in a form of reflexology or massage by an accredited certification board is required to obtain full insurance benefits for reflexology services.

Shiatsu is an oriental form of foot therapy not legally defined as massage, podiatry, chiropractic or medical therapy. Certification in a form of shiatsu or massage by an accredited certification board is required to obtain full insurance benefits for shiatsu services.

Spiritual Healing using any techniques approved by the Federation of Spiritual Healer Licensing Boards (FSHLB). A Spiritual Healer License from one of the accepted or accredited boards of FSHLB is required to obtain full benefits as a spiritual healer.

CLASS 2

If you primarily provide any traditional or classical homeopathic, hypnotism, massage therapy or naturopathic services in your professional health care business, you may become a Class 2 Professional Member of TNTANA:

Homeopathy may include any services included in the homeopathic scope of practice defined by the homeopath's certification or license. A license or certification in homeopathy is required to obtain full benefits as a homeopath. Medical homeopathy services are not covered. You may also provide acupressure, alternative therapies, aromatherapy, biofeedback, hypnotism, massage therapy, naturopathy, reflexology, shiatsu or spiritual healer services as a homeopath.

Hypnotism may include any services included in the hypnotism scope of practice defined by the hypnotist's certification or license. A license or certification in hypnotism is required to obtain full benefits as a homeopath. Medical hypnotism services are not covered. You may also provide acupressure, alternative therapies, aromatherapy, biofeedback homeopathy, massage therapy, naturopathy, reflexology, shiatsu or spiritual healer services as a hypnotist.

Massage Therapy is a special case where you must be licensed by your jurisdiction if they offer a massage therapy license. Otherwise you must be certified by a certification board approved by your jurisdiction. You may also provide acupressure, alternative therapies, aromatherapy, biofeedback, homeopathy, hypnotism, naturopathy, reflexology, shiatsu or spiritual healer services as a hypnotist.

Naturopathy may include any services included in the naturopathic scope of practice defined by the naturopath's certification or license. A license or certification in naturopathy is required to obtain full benefits as a naturopath. Medical naturopathy services are not covered. You may also provide acupressure, alternative therapies, aromatherapy, biofeedback homeopathy, hypnotism, massage therapy, reflexology, shiatsu or spiritual healer services as a naturopath.

If any form of biofeedback is your primary business, and you also provide homeopathy, hypnotism, massage therapy or naturopathy services, you may join the Biofeedback Association of North America (BANA) as a Dual Member to obtain the broadest benefit coverage available. BANA defines biofeedback as audio entrainment, A-V entrainment, bioenergetics, biofeedback, bioresonance, CES, HEG, kinesthetic entrainment, neurofeedback, neurotherapy, quantum biofeedback or visual entrainment services.

If your primary business is acupressure, alternative therapies, aromatherapy, massage therapy, reflexology, shiatsu or spiritual healing, and your secondary services include biofeedback, homeopathy, hypnotism or naturopathy, you may become a Class 2 Professional Member of TNTANA.

CLASS 3

If you provide only colon hydrotherapy or nutrition services as an alternative health care provider, you may become a Class 3 Professional Member of TNTANA:

Colon hydrotherapy is defined as both active and passive hydrotherapy of the large intestine performed by a certified practitioner. A license or certification in color hydrotherapy is required to obtain full benefits as a colon hydrotherapist.

Nutritional services are covered if the nutritionist is licensed or certified by an accredited certification board. Dietician services and medical nutrition services are not covered.

If your primary business is homeopathy, hypnotism or naturopathy and you also provide any kind of biofeedback services, you may become a Class 3 Professional Member of TNTANA:

Biofeedback is defined as audio entrainment, A-V entrainment, bioenergetics, biofeedback, bioresonance, CES, HEG, kinesthetic entrainment, neurofeedback, neurotherapy, quantum biofeedback or visual entrainment services.

If your primary business is acupressure, alternative therapies, aromatherapy, reflexology, shiatsu or spiritual healing, and your secondary services include colon hydrotherapy or nutition, you may become a Class 3 Professional Member of TNTANA.

CLASS 4

If your primary business is providing colon hydrotherapy or nutrition services as an alternative health care provider, and you also provide services in acupressure, alternative therapies, aromatherapy, biofeedback, homeopathy, hypnotism, naturopathy or spiritual healing you may become a Class 4 Professional Member of TNTANA.
